Ice Trap Diaries

Over the past few weeks we have bee studying the book Ice Trap by Meredith Hooper. This tells the story of Ernest Shackleton’s expedition to walk across Antarctica in 1914 and his courageous rescue mission when things went wrong.

The children have been writing diary entries as one of the crew on the expedition. We have completed an entry at the beginning of the expedition, when the crew were drifting on the ship Endurance, stuck in the pack ice.

Here are some of the children’s diaries.

Leave us a post and let us know what you think of our writing. Also look out for our second diary entries in a few weeks time when we will be writing towards the end of the expedition when the men are waiting on Elephant Island for Shackleton to rescue them.
